Unique Places to Save is proud to announce the permanent protection of the Blue Sky Conservation Easement in Randolph County, North Carolina.
Covering approximately 24 acres in the Cape Fear River Basin, the easement safeguards streams, wetlands, and surrounding riparian habitat along the Carter Creek system. The protected area will remain in its natural condition in perpetuity, helping preserve scenic open space, aquatic resources, and wildlife habitat for future generations.
The Blue Sky project represents an important investment in restoring degraded stream channels and adjacent wetland ecosystems. In partnership with Wildlands Engineering, Inc., restoration efforts are designed to protect 7,147 linear feet of stream and 4.48 acres of functional wetland habitat. Removing livestock access and reestablishing native riparian buffers will stabilize soils, reduce nutrient and sediment runoff, and enhance water quality throughout the watershed.
Unique Places to Save is honored to hold and steward this conservation easement as part of its mission to protect valuable land and water resources across North Carolina. We are grateful for the collaboration with Wildlands Engineering, Inc, ensuring the enduring ecological integrity of the site for generations to come.
