Unique Places to Save serves as the long-term conservation easement holder for the Four Hills Mitigation Site, a 77.89-acre restoration project. Once degraded by livestock use and erosion, the site underwent significant ecological restoration.

More than 18,700 linear feet of stream and 8.4 acres of wetlands were restored or enhanced to improve water quality, reestablish floodplain connectivity, and support native plant and animal life. It also protects critical habitat and contributes to improving the health of the Rocky River, a conservation priority in North Carolina.

With the placement of a permanent conservation easement, Unique Places to Save ensures the site's long-term protection and stewardship. The effort aligned with our mission to conserve high-value lands that safeguard biodiversity, clean water, and climate resilience.
