The permanent conservation of Wildland’s Proctor Dairy stream and wetland mitigation project will protect the enhancement of ecological integrity and water quality within the Lower Catawba River Basin.

The project created a functional riparian corridor, improving stream and wetland functions through targeted restoration efforts. Key accomplishments included the restoration of stream channels and the reestablishment of riparian buffers through strategic revegetation.

These efforts improved conditions for aquatic organisms and reestablished critical biological connections between riparian and aquatic ecosystems. Wetlands were restored and enhanced by reestablishing natural hydrology, mitigating the drainage effects of historical agricultural ditching and maintenance.

This comprehensive approach of permanently conserving these great mitigation outcomes resulted in significant ecological and hydrological improvements, contributing to the long-term sustainability of the watershed and providing valuable habitat for diverse species.
