Located in the Yadkin Pee Dee River Basin of Surry County NC
The White Buffalo Conservation Mitigation Easement is situated along Jackson Creek which flows through a scenic backdrop of rolling hills, row crop fields, and quaint residential areas. The Easement Property will provide riparian buffer for streams from surrounding agricultural and development activities, habitat for local wildlife and aquatic life, and improve water transport in a non-erosive manner.
The clear and cold waters of Jackson Creek now flow over pools, riffles, and organic substrate that improve in-stream habitat, increase oxygen levels, and help regulate water temperatures.
White Buffalo protects 12.9 acres along Jackson Creek, and the easement has been in place since 2018. Wildlands Engineering carried out the stream buffer work. Unique Places to Save is the conservation easement grantee, which means the buffer along the creek is protected permanently and stays protected through any future sale of the land.
