What Is a Wetland Keeper?

A Wetland Keeper is a concerned person who gives as little as $5 a month to help fund our mission, our work, and the protection of American wetlands.

We started the Wetland Keepers recurring giving program because the work doesn't stop, and the people doing it need a steady stream of support behind them. When you become a Wetland Keeper, your gift goes directly towards our stated goals of:

  • Conserve natural resources
  • Partner to restore degraded natural resources
  • Preserve and protect working lands
  • Share the stories and outcomes of our work

Our foundation was built to meet this moment. Our conservation mission emphasizes aquatic resources whose protections are at the greatest risk, but provide outsized benefits to communities across the country.

But our work is just beginning. The Wetland Keepers help us save more wetlands across our country!

Why This Matters Now

A recent Supreme Court decision substantially reduced the scope of federal wetland protection in the United States. Many wetlands once protected by federal rule are now legally exposed to be filled and converted to other uses.

The work to keep them intact won't come from new federal protection in the near term. It will come from organizations that already do the work, with support from people who already care.

We've been doing this work for nearly 15 years. We're going to keep doing it. The Wetland Keepers help us do more of it, faster.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where does my money actually go?

These donations fund our operations and conservation work for the organization which, as stated in our mission, strives to meet the following goals:

- Directly conserve land, aquatic, and other natural resources through legal conservation instruments, fee title ownership and sustainable land, aquatic, and natural resource management.
- In partnership with others, restore degraded land, aquatic or other ecological systems and habitats.
- Preserve, protect, and enhance farmland, rangeland and other agricultural systems and associated aquatic resources.
- Directly impact the restoration and protection of land and water in North America through outreach and storytelling.
Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. Unique Places to Save is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. You will receive an email with the donation acknowledgement for your records.

Why monthly instead of one-time?

Recurring monthly giving matches the timescale of this perpetual work while being efficient and flexible to match your commitment.

Will I get a lot of email?

No. We will send a welcome series in the first month and monthly updates after that. We're not going to ask you to give again every two weeks. That's not the relationship we want with you.

Can I cancel or change my gift?

At any time. There's a donor portal for that, and we'll send you the link in your welcome email. No questions asked, no awkward calls.
