The Bandit Farms Conservation Easement is a 17-acre project by RestorEcology dedicated to protecting and restoring critical riparian and wetland areas in the Upper New Hope Arm of Jordan Lake. This project is part of a mitigation bank, meaning it generates nutrient offset and riparian buffer mitigation credits that can be used to compensate for environmental impacts elsewhere in the region.

The primary goal of the conservation easement is to restore and preserve riparian vegetation along Morgan Creek and its tributaries.

By converting former agricultural lands into a diverse hardwood forest, the project will significantly reduce nutrient runoff, improve water quality, and enhance wildlife habitat. The site plays a crucial role in the Jordan Water Supply Nutrient Strategy, helping to manage nutrient loads and protect the health of the broader Cape Fear River Basin.

This project represents a win-win for conservation and responsible development, ensuring that natural resources are protected while allowing for regional economic growth. By securing perpetual conservation protections on this land, Bandit Farms is helping to safeguard clean water, healthy ecosystems, and resilient landscapes for generations to come.
