The easement property consists of restored riparian streams and former agricultural ditches that aim to create habitat for local wildlife and improve the water quality of Caraway Creek, a tributary of the Neuse River.
Caraway Creek protects 28.9 acres in the Neuse River Basin, under easement since 2015, with the riparian buffer and nutrient work carried out by Wildlands Engineering. The restored streams and former agricultural ditches give wildlife habitat between active row crop fields and help improve water quality in Caraway Creek, a tributary of the Neuse River. Unique Places to Save is the conservation easement grantee, so that buffer is protected permanently.
