conserve restore habitat badgeThe Falling Creek Conservation Mitigation Easement is 371 acres of restored stream, wetland, and forest habitat situated in the middle livestock and row crop agricultural operations near Mt. Olive, North Carolina.

This 371.5-acre conservation easement is a significant win for the Falling Creek watershed. It permanently protects and restores:

  • 28,787 linear feet of streams
  • 270.2 acres of riparian wetlands
  • 1.4 acres of non-riparian wetlands

The restoration of the Easement Property positively impacts three sub-watersheds of Falling Creek which was a NC 303(d) impaired waterway.

This project is crucial for the Neuse River Basin because it actively transforms former agricultural land into healthy ecosystems. By restoring natural buffers and habitats, it improves water quality and provides vital ecological benefits for future generations.

Why the Right Conservation Partner Matters

Conservation easements are permanent, legally binding agreements that shape how land can be utilized far into the future. Because of that permanence, the organization you choose to work with matters as much as the land itself.
