The Zeb Creek Conservation Easement is a restoration project in the Cape Fear River Basin developed with KCI. This project is focused on stream and wetland restoration, improving water quality, and enhancing wildlife habitat in an area historically impacted by agricultural and land-use changes. Prior to conservation, Zeb Creek and its tributaries suffered from erosion, sedimentation, and nutrient runoff, negatively affecting the local watershed.

Through this mitigation effort, the project aims to restore stream stability, reestablish riparian buffers, and reconnect the floodplain, which will help reduce pollution and improve aquatic habitat. Restoration efforts include stabilizing streambanks, planting native vegetation, and implementing natural channel design techniques to restore ecological balance.

By securing permanent protection through a conservation easement, the Zeb Creek Mitigation Project ensures long-term stewardship of the land, helping to protect water resources, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience in the Cape Fear River Basin. This project highlights the role of mitigation banking in balancing conservation with responsible development, ensuring the region's natural resources are preserved for future generations.
