The White Hat mitigation project provides restoration and enhancement of Deep Creek, which is a tributary to the Little River.
Restoration and enhancement will improve water transport (reduce erosion), water quality, instream habitat and restore and enhance riparian wetlands.
White Hat protects 76.3 acres in the Pasquotank River Basin, under easement since 2021, with the stream and wetland restoration and enhancement carried out by RES. The work along Deep Creek, a tributary of the Little River, is meant to reduce erosion, improve water quality and instream habitat, and bring back riparian wetlands. Unique Places to Save is the conservation easement grantee, so that recovery is protected permanently.
